randy dandy
Randy Brown with an artsy fartsy night time manual. Pic by legendary photographer, D. Adams (ha.)

Between the holidays, cold and flu season, and shoe design deadlines I haven’t had much time for the old blogger. So I found this picture of Randy Brown taking up hard drive space on my laptop and blam! A new post for ya. Here’s some other stuff that we’re currently slacking on, but will get around to eventually:

- Kevin Porter video part is 99.9% done. One glitched clip is holding it up dammit. Should be worth the wait.
- Open House video. This is coming along quite nicely and will be on littledevilbrand.com some day. Pools and punk rock.
- The Orchid CD contest is over and we have a couple of winners to announce. If you sent in a CD, you’re a winner. Hold your horses, we’ll get at ya.
- We’re looking into insurance so we can open our ramp to the public for limited sessions. There’s a good chance it will happen this winter. We’ll keep you posted.
- We’ll be putting a sneak peek of the Spring 2007 Orchid line on orchidfootwear.com New Van, Wiz, and T-nez shoes are being made right now.

That’s it. Check back soon and have a happy new year.

New LDB sticker packs

Everything in life changes. Which brings me to my point; the posting title Product Tuesday’s has now officially been changed to Manufactured Goods. After two whole weeks I got bored with the old name and decided to change it to something new. I might get bored with this new title too but for now I’ll run with it.

With that out of the way feast your eyes on the brand new Little Devil item pictured above…fresh off the press we give you the new LDB sticker pack! Wahoo, who doesn’t like stickers? The correct answer is no one because everybody likes stickers. These are available in assorted 20 packs and feature our new patent pending super adhesive backing. Not really, but what else can you say about a sticker. It’s a sticker and you buy them because they look cool, enough said.

If you don’t see these available from your favorite Little Devil dealer, or maybe you just want to buy all twenty stickers at once instead of one at a time, click here to visit the Trans Am online store where you can buy as many packs as you want.

Monster Size Monsters

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

Our friend Adam Wallacavage came over the other night and gave us a copy of his new book, Monster Size Monsters. I first met Adam 20 years ago and he’s always been one of the coolest guys I’ve known. Adam used to ride bmx and I vividly remember that his bike had homemade leopard skin pads and hand painted mag wheels. He was also the first person I ever saw making his own t-shirts, one of the reasons I started Little Devil in the first place. Adam is multi-talented but he’s best known for his amazing photography, which is the subject of his book. I’ve been lucky enough to work with him on a few occasions (You may best know his work from the Criminal Mischief video cover) but more lucky to call him a friend.

adam and van
Here’s an old shot of Adam and a young Van Homan at Space 1026. It’s hard to see but note the painting in the background done by Ed Templeton. It’s Adam in a fur coat with one of the Toy Machine characters. Who else has portraits of themselves done by Ed Templeton?

If you want to buy Adam’s book, you can get it here.

trans am xmas party

We had our Trans Am holiday lunch party today. We ordered Chick-Filet and shot darts at a fat lady’s belly button. Everybody won prizes that Billy’s wife brought in for us. I think I made out the best with the Penis Pokey book. Happy holidays from our lovely staff. Clockwise from left: Mike, Billy, Baby Elliot, Justin, Jesse, Mandrew, Sean, and Derek.

Hooligan Track Zip

Yes, it is that time again. And I’m not talking about the holidays; I’m talking about Product Tuesday’s.

This week I’m proud to present you with another new item from Little Devil; the “Hooligan” track zip-up. It’s available in sizes small through x-large in either black or olive green. As you can see there is a nice embroidered logo over screen print on the chest, with an additional logo screened on the back hip as well. If that’s not enough there is also some logo piping on the inside collar too. Also note the recessed pockets to keep your mitts nice and toasty. The material is 100% polyester so you know it’s a panty dropper at the local disco, pub, skatepark…oh hell, it’s a panty dropper pretty much everywhere so go get yourself one.

If you don’t have a shop near you that stocks Little Devil products then you can always check out the shop online page of the Trans Am site for a listing of mail order spots.

See you next Tuesday!

flossin

Fat Tony at bmxonline.com asked me a few questions about how we handle rider sponsorships. They also interviewed a bunch of other guys in the industry. If you think you have what it takes to be a pro bmx rider, this article may be interesting. It may not help you obtain that elusive Gucci sponsorship, but you have to start somewhere.

Afro Banks Homage

Afro Bank RIP

I was riding by this spot in Philadelphia on Friday and noticed the addition of a buzz killing iron rail around the whole thing. I had my camera and decided to do a Dig-style homage to the Afro Banks. How it got the name the Afro Banks I don’t know since there is only one bank, a brick volcano. It’s at an Afro-American museum so that part is no mystery. The bank was an attraction for skaters and bmx’ers alike, and for a long while provided the only ridable transition in the city. I remember that George Dossantos use to kill this thing and Corey Martinez brought dreams to reality when he fufanu’d the pelvis of the statue on top. Just one more spot shut down in Philly, what else is new. Afro Banks RIP.

Gwar in Atlantic City

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

I went to see Gwar in Atlantic City last night along with Dave King, Brian Tunney, and our buddy Chickenhead. Chix knows one of the guys in the show so we rolled down to A.C. and had a blast.

This is Gwar dismembering their number one fan, which spewed blood all over the crowd.

jesse bike

Jesse Jay, our newest art employee, found some old Little Devil packing tape in the warehouse. He decided to cover his frame in the stuff and it looks pretty cool. I hope Jesse doesn’t want to change the look of his bike anytime soon, because that tape doesn’t come off.
