Evel Knievel R.I.P.

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Yes, the daredevil who inspired thousands of kids to jump bikes in the 70’s passed away today at the age of 69. I know I was one of those kids. When I started Little Devil in 1995 one of the first t-shirts I printed was a tribute to Evel. Thanks for showing us the way. R.I.P.

Photos: A Visit From FBM

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

We got a visit from FBM last night. Steve Crandall and his group of overgrown monkeys came by for a star studded session with Van, Geoff, and Lump Dog. Steve is getting really good behind the camera lens, but he will blast a flash in your face when you’re not looking. This photo of Mickey is one of many good photos he shot. The rest are right here on the FBM site. Go for it.

Music: Ghostface With A Live Band

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Ghostface Killah from Wu-Tang came to Philly over Thanksgiving weekend. He was touring with a 10 piece band called the Rhythm Roots All Stars along with Rakim and Brother Ali. Usually hip hop shows don’t have the same energy as rock shows but the Rhythm Roots All Stars brought Ghost’s music to a new level. I’d love to see more live instruments incorporated into hip hop because it’s a lethal combo. If you get the chance to see a show like this do it, do it.

Look at that necklace and 4-finger ring! Stunning.

The new line of Orchid shoes are out now. Here’s a group photo with all 8 new colorways. These shoes are on their way to Orchid dealers this very moment. I can’t stress enough how limited they are. We only made a small quantity and we’re never ever making them again. That’s how we do, so get them soon if you want them. Seriously.

Photos: Van And Randy In NC

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Van Homan and Randy Brown went down to North Carolina over the weekend with some of the 2×4 crew. Filming for their video is well under way and they were on a mission to dodge the crappy weather around here. Here we have a couple of dualing hop over rail photos, Van on his way to a grind and Randy going to that skinny piece of concrete. Of course I’m just assuming that’s what’s happening. Remember kids, when you assume you make an ass out of u and me.

Photos: Brian Hunt With Naked People

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Oh my god! I think this may be the best web post we’ve ever made. Brian Hunt pulled through with these amazing photos from the Florida keys. I’m speechless. Here’s a short explanation from Brian himself:

“I’ve finally been home for more than a week and it definitely feels crazy. The last few months have been nonstop. Europe twice, all over the states, Canada a few times, and a little bit of time in NH. I sent you all the photos from Fantasy Fest that I told you about. Ryan Herbach, Dan Dwyre, and I went down to visit a friend in the keys just to relax and have fun when we stumbled across a wild scene downtown a couple nights in a row. The woman and men ranged in all ages and sizes but the clothing was always the same, pretty much paint or nothing. We planned on hitting up a few bars but the scene on the streets was way too wild to pass up.”

Little Devil Skatepark: Opens Dec. 1st

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

That’s right. The world famous “Little Devil Bowl” is going to be open for business starting Saturday December 1st. This has been in the works for a while and we’re psyched it’s finally happening. Just in time for winter! Check back here for official details.

Tentative Plans: We’re going to offer 2 weeknight sessions and 2 Saturday sessions. The weeknight sessions will be from 7:00-10:00pm (probably on Tuesday and Thursday). The 2 Saturday sessions will be 12:00-3:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm. Bikes only (skateboards wreck the plywood surface, how ironic). Helmets required. Signed waivers required (if you’re under 18 a parent must be present to sign or else the form has to be notarized). Cost will be approximately $10.00 each per session. This is all subject to change, so check back here for the finalized details.

Also, we’re going to do another pro demo/open house on Saturday December 15th. Peep this video from last year and start getting the lines memorized. There’s a million of them.

Events: Corey Martinez Bike Auction

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Corey’s bike is now being auctioned off on Ebay, with all proceeds going to the Stephen Murray Family Fund. The auction ends on November 21st so get over there and place a bid before it’s over. If Corey’s bike isn’t your cup of tea then go to Props Visual to see the other pro’s bikes that are also being auctioned. If you’ve wanted to help out Stephen but haven’t gotten around to it yet, this is a good chance to make a difference and still have something to show for it. Win, win.

EDIT: Help Jimmy Levan. As if bmx hasn’t had enough bad news this year, Jimmy Levan is currently in an induced coma due to a bad head injury. Empire has set up a fund to help Jimmy and his family with his medical bills. If you have the means, please make a donation and help a brother out. For more on this story, go to Defgrip. Get well soon Jimmy!

Hair Care 101 With Geoff Slattery

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Here’s your hair care tip of the week featuring Geoff Slattery:
Don’t go to a party, get all drunk, then decide to let some other drunk dude give you a haircut. You will immediately regret that decision and then have to shave you whole head. More hair care tips coming soon. (pictures from Darryl Tocco’s photobucket)

Speaking of hair, there’s an interview with Brian Wizmerski now up on the S&M site.
