Product: Cobra Tyedye Tees.

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Yes! These bad boys are back in stock, the Cobra Tee with the art from Matt Beringer’s shoe box (after this I promise no more tye dyes). We also have the plain black version if you’re scared.

The above photo is from last year when Randy Brown and I got busted by the Fashion Police. I have to admit, I’ve had a few fashion police incidents recently (another one including Van) but couldn’t bring myself to get the camera out. Catch me if you can!

Brian Tunney saw this sign in a store window. How did they get the Brian Wizmerski casual shoe in stock already?

My favorite bmx website wrote a little tribute to the video part we made in 2001, Van Homan’s epic Criminal Mischief section.

Future BMX Vert Champ?

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I don’t mean to laugh at the so-called competition, but I saw this ad in the new Ride and it’s by far the funniest thing in there. The ad campaign is called “future champs” and it says this kid Jackson Stern will win BMX vert at the X-games in 2012. At first I thought it was a child model posed in in front of a bmx bike who represented the next unknown shredder “rider X” (aka a bad attempt by a corporate ad agency trying to tap into the youth market). Jackson Stern, come on, what an extreme sounding made-up name. That’s laughable enough, but then I thought “How is this kid going to take out Jamie Bestwick on a pair of Tuff Wheels?” and “Will there even be X-Games vert in 2012?” Then I found out the best part of all, this kid is a real person! And he’s a skateboarder!!! He better get on a bike and start training ASAP! Time is ticking…

Bitchin’ Camaro.

I’m off to the Jersey shore for a couple days. I’ve employed the bmx news widget to do my job until I get back. It displays the 8 most recent posts from the bmx world. And this song pretty much sums up the Jersey shore experience. Edit: I’m back and I had to take this guy off the home page. He was way too scary.

Video: Props 69 Download.

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

The full version of Props 69 is now available for download by clicking here. It features a day in the life of Matt Beringer who also graces the back cover. I’m sure he’s psyched and would say “huh huh, 69.” You can watch the free trailer here first. And remember if you buy the dvd you also get the full resolution versions of our last 2 web vids, KP’s Austin Line and the Trans Am Jam.

Trails Are Dead.

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Take a quick spin around most popular bmx websites and you probably won’t see much trail coverage. It’s been on the rapid decline for a few years now, but it’s no huge mystery why this is happening. Riding trails is way more fun to do than it is to watch, kind of like snowboarding. Why do you think dirt was dropped from the X-games? It doesn’t sell. But maybe it’s better that way. Maybe trail riding will remain the one part of bmx that isn’t tainted by the media circus and hungry kids trying to make it big. If there’s nothing to gain but a fun day on your bike in the woods, then only the most dedicated will keep at it. Here’s a list of sites that are keeping bmx alive right where it began in the first place, in the dirt.

PA Woods
Axelrad Army
Bike and Destroy
Natural BMX
Derelict BMX
Credence Bikes
Deluxe
Liquor Bikes
Original Gangsta’s, FBM!!!

UK rider and team manager, Owain Clegg, hops through a huge pair of legs. At least that’s what it looks like to me, but my mind is always in the gutter. Courtesy of Seventies.

Product: Dusk Tyedye Tee.

Friday, June 20th, 2008

New Dusk tyedye shirts are now in stock (KP’s logo). They come with sleeves, but Filson made a vow to abolish sleevery and took em right off. I also love how he’s sending contradicting messages with his fashion choices; hippie tyedye shirt, Black Flag tattoo, Brooklyn bike messenger cap. Classic.

EDIT: If this shirt makes you vomit in your mouth let us know about it here. That was our desired reaction.
