Rampin’ Up The Dare Factor!

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I saw this newspaper article hanging up at 2×4 and laughed for days about the headline. I love when people who don’t ride try to sound X-treme. “Rampin’ up the dare factor,” what does that even mean? It doesn’t really matter, it’s my new favorite thing to say. Speaking of 2×4, check out their blog if you want to see some pictures of our recent trip to NC. North Carolina treated us well. Big thanks to Leigh Ramsdell and his wife for putting us up for 3 days. Also thanks to Bojangles and Krispy Kreme for keeping us fed. More pics and a web edit coming soon.

Geoff Slattery in France.

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Head over to Bicycle Union for daily updates on a euro roadtrip they’re on right now. They were cool enough to fly Geoff Slattery over to ride with them. Even though it sounds like a disaster so far, you know he’s psyched to be roasting cement quaterpipes in the middle of France rather than being trapped in the snow back home. Have fun…

Sneak Peek: Cobra Synth Black.

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Here’s another look at the Matt Beringer’s None More Black edition shoe coming out this Spring. It’s another synthetic version of his Cobra shoe. Thanks to Defgrip for posting these last week.

North Carolina.

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Van, Randy, and I have been in North Carolina clockin’ footy for a new video edit. It doesn’t even matter that the high today was 32 degrees, we’ve been getting the job done. Here’s a quick snap of Randy Brown tire sliding a tight quickcrete quarter made by some local riders.

Rambling Thursday Update.

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I just got back from a quick vacation in Florida so I was obviously bummed to come home to 20 degree weather. The trails look like they’re ready for a snowboard competition. Luckily the new Dig Magazine all trails issue was here to keep my fire burning. It’s so good. I haven’t been this excited to read a magazine in a while. It’s nice to see Dig keepin’ it real even if trails aren’t fashionable at the moment (what’s next, the all flatland issue or the all vert issue?). I was also surprised to see a Little Devil Funeral article in there, thanks to Aaron Buckley and Brian Tunney. Speaking of LD, Dan’s Comp just bought the last of the Funeral t-shirts. If you want one, speak now or forever hold your peace (L.D.R.I.P.). So I was sitting here soaking up the reality of winter when Van Homan texted and asked if I wanted to go to North Carolina for the weekend with him and Randy Brown. The chickens are clearly not clucking around here so I replied “hells yeah”. My bags are packed and I’ll make sure to do some updates from the road. This also means that Orchid may be closed until Monday. Employee of the month Mike Clarke is out of the office, he threw his back out while picking up a dog (don’t ask) so he may be on the couch for a couple of days. Call Dr. Feelgood and get well soon buddy. In shoe news, we have a Sneak Peek of Matt Beringer’s new Cobra Synth None More Black edition shoe over on Defgrip. Sorry I couldn’t help the Spinal Tap reference. What year is it? In the totally random news department, Orchid shoes may be in an upcoming issue of The Source. They’re doing some kind of Extreme Sports article and gave us a call. “My momma smiles every time my shoes is up in the source“…or something like that. On that note I think I’m outta here. Until tomorrow.

Wiz Q&A on TheComeUp.

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Brian Wizmerski has a new Q&A on The Come Up Board. This should be entertaining. Go ask him anything…is he really a wastoid now…why did he cut his dreads…what’s up with his new bike sponsor…what was up with that Dig interview…who invented the ching…what’s the best Rolling Stones song…why get married… I can hear it all now. Get to it.

Live Free Or Die!

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Here’s another rad shot of Brian Hunt from the Incline Club in NJ. At first I thought this was over a box jump which would be crazy enough but then I realized it’s a bunnyhop drop in, no handed one footed style. Pretty freakin cool. Big thanks to Tommy Verrochi for the photo.
